Being PRESENT
Being present and self-aware is the foundation of the Santa Catalina Wheel of Well-Being. Through the framework of PRESENT, students are led through curriculum and application of the seven dimensions of health. These dimensions are explored throughout the school year in assemblies, classes, and advisory groups, and through our annual Well-being Day:
- Personal Development
- Relationships and Communication
- Exercise and Movement
- Spirituality
- Environment
- Nutrition and Hydration
- Time for Rest
Student Health and Wellness Committee
The Student Health and Wellness Committee represents the student body and provides leadership in the implementation of various activities and programs, such as Weeks of Well-come and Well-being Day. The committee is selected through a nomination process and is made up of sophomore, junior, and senior day and boarding students.
Well-being Day
Expertly planned and implemented each spring by our Student Health and Wellness Committee under the leadership of Catalina’s director of health and wellness, this daylong event features a mix of movement, hands-on activities, and informative talks. Sessions have included a boxing and self-defense class; flower crown, baking, and skin care workshops; a panel discussion about medical careers with local doctors; and presentations on personal finance and self-care.
