Lower & Middle School Achievements

Quinn, a grade 5 student at Santa Catalina Lower and Middle School, tied for third place at the Lyceum of Monterey County’s 38th annual 4th and 5th Grade Spelling Bee.

Quinn faced about 50 competitors at the county spelling bee after coming in second place at Santa Catalina’s school contest.

The path to the county bee started with two written tests in both grades. The top 20 spellers then participated in an oral contest at school, which went 10 rounds—only two of which they could study for. Maddie in grade 4 won the school bee with the word "parenthetical."
